The eyes are one of the first areas to be affected by the aging process. As we age, the skin of the upper eyelids can begin to fold over the lashes and feel heavy, presenting as an old or tired appearance. The lifting muscle in the upper lid can detach and drop the lid over the eye and pupil. This is known as eyelid ptosis. It can affect vision by partially covering the pupil. Upper eyelid surgery tightens the lifting muscle, and repositions and recontours the skin and fat in the upper eyelids to restore function and improve the overall appearance of the eyes. This also helps you look and feel younger.
