Skin Cancer Patient 20
Oasis Eye Face and Skin | Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Oregon
This 60-year-old woman was referred to Dr. Schiedler by her family practice physician for skin cancer on her left lower eyelid. Dr. Schiedler did a full thickness removal around the basal cell carcinoma because it had already grown on the edge of the eyelid and destroyed some lashes.
The pathologist performed some extra testing to verify there was no remaining skin cancer. From there, Dr. Schiedler repaired the defect by bringing the edges of the remaining eyelid together. She had to release the outer corner of the eyelid to make it longer so the new edges would reach together. This is to help the patient maintain the natural look. Note the lid margin has no lashes, but the outer corner is intact and there is good blink and closure.
